Wrightsville Beach

Wilmington’s closest beach town loaded with pristine public beaches, specialty shops, unique restaurants and bars separated by the Intracoastal Waterway and a historical drawbridge provides area residents and visitors alike with an alluring experience.

While Wilmington continues to blossom into a large town with an increasingly faster pace, Wrightsville Beach continues to offer the perfect escape for those who need to slow down to “island time”, even if it’s just for a few minutes, such as a drive around the famous “loop”.

Our favorite place to go for a dinner is the King Neptune Restaurant. The bar has Pirate décor, while the dining room boasts Caribbean atmosphere and friendly bartenders.

Whether you are looking for recreation, relaxation, shopping, food & spirits or simply a refreshed state of mind, you’re sure to find it at Wrightsville Beach.

Go to www.wblivesurf.com to check out the surf or for more information regarding the town please visit www.wrightsville.com

Carolina Beach

Located 15 miles south of historic downtown Wilmington and situated between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean, Carolina Beach offers residents and visitors alike with an abundance of public beaches, a boardwalk, shops, restaurants and bars, a state park and endless fun.

Carolina Beach State Park is one of Carolina Beach’s most treasured attractions. More than 700 acres of local ecology unique to Southeastern North Carolina complete with a visitor’s center is open to the public for exploration. Some of the amenities include boating, camping, education events, fishing, hiking, and picnicking.

The Boardwalk at Carolina beach is a two square block area behind the actual Boardwalk lined with arcades, food establishments, and a gazebo where sounds of live music can be heard on the weekends. During the day it is a fun place to take the family, but once the sun goes down the bars and night-clubs get cranked up with live music and good old fashioned fun.

One of the most fun things about Carolina Beach is that the town sponsors fireworks every Thursday night during the summer. You can check out other fun activities for the family at www.pleasureislandchambernc.org

Our favorite place to go for live music is the Ocean Grill & Tiki Bar. During summer months the Tiki Bar hosts live music from Thursday thru Sunday nights. It is difficult to find a cooler breeze than the one blowing across the little pier from the ocean. The view from the tiki bar is awesome too!

Kure Beach

You can find this small, family-oriented beach community located just south of Carolina Beach, about 17 miles from downtown Wilmington. It is known for private, public beaches that run along this once uninhabited piece of real estate, casual dining and shopping.

Kure Beach provides a unique perspective of scenic views to both the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean. The town rests on some of the most pristine public beaches found in North Carolina. Some of the area attractions include the 700 foot long, Kure Beach Fishing Pier and some of the areas most elaborate coastal communities ever developed, such as SeaWatch.

The Kure Beach Fishing Pier was recently rebuilt and restored. The pier includes amenities for all beach goers such as bait and tackle, snacks, clothes, beach toys, ocean trinkets, an arcade and not to mention great saltwater fishing. It’s open to fisherman from April 1st through November 30th.

Fort Fisher State Park & Recreation Area

Visit the Ft. Fisher Aquarium. The NC Aquariums were established to promote awareness, understanding, appreciation and conservation of the diverse natural and cultural resources associated with NC’s ocean, estuaries, rivers, streams and other aquatic environments. Make sure you ask the aquarium staff about the famous Ft. Fisher Hermit.

Take a walking tour of of where the 2nd Battle of Ft. Fisher took place, the largest amphibious assault of the Civil War. The Historic Site has exhibits and events all year long, including a historical reenactment of the Battle of Ft. Fisher, where staff and volunteers dress in Civil War-period sailor uniforms and give special talks and demonstrations.
